Now, what’s a “scene” exactly? Well, it depends on the name, really. No really, it does. Echolon, Ping Pong (which re-creates a ping pong game that you play), Gridwalker (a percussive synth that reacts to perceived volume and environment), and of course, my favorite scene (also the one that got me lusting for the program so much as to make my dad buy it just so I could experience it): Eargasm. A silly name, yes, but just check out this video. The scenery adds to the aesthetic of the audio, but you get the point (it helps to live in the Alps {no kidding}).
Their newest Scene released is RjDj Shake, building off the Amen Shake (as seen in the last video).
So now that you’ve watched these videos, you’re beginning to remember that bit about creating your own scenes. Yes, in fact, it’s true. The beautiful people at RjDj.me will accept any submissions for new scenes. All you need is to visit this site, download Pure Data, and get started making new scenes. It’s really up to you, your imagination, and having an iPhone or iPod touch handy for testing purposes.
And for all of you non-fan boys and girls out there, RjDj claims “we will soon be looking forward to run it on other devices and open source platform too.” See: I couldn’t even begin to think about knowing how to answer that question (any takers?).
Here is the last video I’ve found that’s worth watching. It shows a handful of responses from one of their “Sprints” through Europe, gauging people’s reactions of the RjDj app.
If one of us here gets our hands on this, we’ll be sure to post a video of it!
